It's That Time Again...
Since it's already Thursday (this week sure has gotten away from me!), I'll begin the Thursday Thirteen by answering your lovely questions...
1. My eyes are blue.
2. My shoe size is usually a 7, but sometimes I do wear a 6.5.
3. Second grade was my favorite year of elementary school.
4. It was the year that I "published" my first book, which was about my beloved rabbits escaping from their hutch in our backyard (it was nonfiction!).
5. I cannot pick one favorite restaurant in Philly; I particularly love Chloe, Mama Palma, Beau Monde, Pod, and Mercato.
6. If I wasn't a teacher I'd be a) a therapist or b) a decorator.
7. In my dream world I would be a) the next Natalie Merchant or b) the female Tom Perrotta.
8. The furthest from home I've ever traveled was to The Isle of Skye in Scotland.
9. I grew up in a small town in the suburbs of Philadelphia -- Haddonfield, NJ.
10. Some of my favorite hobbies include reading, writing, cooking, listening to music, drawing, painting, skiing in winter, and making beaded jewelry.
11. I have lived all of my life on the East Coast -- in Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, DC.
12. I've been writing again! The novel is coming along, folks...
13. I've just decided that I am going to look into pursuing another Masters Degree -- in Counseling Psychology. The plan is to take a course as a non-matriculating student this fall and then apply "for real"!

Second grade *is* the best year of school ever. I've been through it 4 times now.
I want to hear more about this possible other career path, or at least anohter education tack. It should be fun!
The novel... In a vague sense, it's about therapy, teaching, and relationships. Ideally it's going to be a kind of statement about human connection and how the autheticity around that, when it really happens, isn't easily constrained by "artificial" boundaries. It essentially questions how people negotiate these contexts while still being "true" and "real." What's interesting is that the protagonist experiences the issues of power from opposite sides -- as teacher and as client.
Thanks for the offer of feedback. When I get a little further into the process, I may just take you up.
Also, if you're ever looking for any feedback, I'd be more than happy. What's your novel about??
K -- lol about second grade. I KNEW you'd say that! The new career path is vague at best at the moment, and I'd be doing the program part-time, so it wouldn't be taking off "officially" for a couple of years. Still, it's exciting to think about.
Oh, regarding the feet and eyes...I'm not sure how I knew. Must be my intuition at work ;)
And I've just begun beading jewelry this past weekend!! I'm loving it! I bought some books and lots of beads. I've designed/made 5 bracelets so far (using stretchy elastic) - mostly using glass beads and lampwork. I'm taking a one-night class making a bracelet with wire, crimping, etc. Can't wait!!
C -- We can talk. I'm sure my therapist could recommend someone in the city (she's on the Main Line).
E -- You're going to be a more advanced beader than I before long! The class sounds like a lot of fun!
