The Friday Shuffle: Take One at the New Pad
Let's breathe a collective sigh of relief; another week's come to an end. And that can only mean one thing: it's time for the Friday tunes. Set those iPods a-shufflin' and tell us what's playing. First ten songs. No apron-wringing.
Here's the juice:
1. Conceived (The Comfort of Strangers) -- Beth Orton
2. Valley Winter Song (Welcome Interstate Managers) -- Fountains of Wayne
3. Fuck and Run (Exile in Guyville) -- Liz Phair
4. This House is Not For Sale (Love is Hell Part I) -- Ryan Adams
5. Bright Smile (Hello Starling) -- Josh Ritter
6. Cannonball (O) -- Damien Rice
7. Oliver's Army (Armed Forces) -- Elvis Costello
8. Peg (Aja) Steely Dan
9. 32 Flavors (Not a Pretty Girl) -- Ani Difranco
10. We're the Same (100% Fun) -- Matthew Sweet
Seen Live: Liz Phair, Josh Ritter, Ani Difranco, Matthew Sweet
Favorite song: "Bright Smile" wins hands down. It gets me every time.
Least Favorite song: I'm not a Steely Dan fan really; I put "Peg" on the 'pod to appease DD once when I was making a mix (MS, he must have known you were coming over that night!).
Favorite album: Currently it's Hello Starling. But Exile in Guyville's kind of a classic of my era; it captures the raw and raunchy Liz Phair I loved in high school. And there are many happy memories associated with 100% Fun...
