The Friday Random Ten: School's Out!
And I'm slacking already... Usually I would get my list up first thing in the a.m. since I'd been doing it before school. But, those days are over for a while and I'm going to rub it in...just a little. It's 11:53 and yours truly just officially got up.
Anyway, you know the rules at this point. Fire up that iPod and tell the blogosphere what's playing. The first ten songs. No skipping past or rationalizing the embarrassing tracks (even if it's Celine Dion!). Afterwards you might want to entertain us with who you've seen live, and favs and least favs...
Here's the set:
1. Our Love (The Instigator) -- Rhett Miller
2. Chickenman (Rites of Passage) -- Indigo Girls
3. Box Full of Letters (A.M.) -- Wilco
4. Figaro (Mobius) -- Jeree Small
5. Ricochet in Time (Steady On) -- Shawn Colvin
6. The Fallen (You Could Have it So Much Better) -- Franz Ferdinand
7. Yesterday's Girl (Love and China) -- The Nields
8. New Slang (Garden State soundtrack) -- The Shins
9. Beverly Hills (Make Believe) -- Weezer
10. London Calling (Live: From Here to Eternity) -- The Clash
Random Comment: I love Rhett Miller. And he seems like a total sweetheart. He's also hot and is a snazzy dresser. I dig the velvet duds he's sporting in The Believer photos...
Seen Live: Indigo Girls, Wilco, Shawn Colvin, The Nields
Majorly Enjoyed: "Our Love," "Box Full of Letters," Yesterday's Girl"
Minorly Enjoyed: "Chickenman" (I love Rites of Passage but loathe this song), "The Fallen," "Beverly Hills"
Favorite Album: Rites of Passage
Least Favorite Album: You Could Have it So Much Better
Favorite Lyric: "You were just velveteen, but I thought I could love you real..." (Nods to NFN!)

Enjoy the weekend!
Steaming (Touch) Sarah McLachlan
Sand in my Shoes (Life for Rent) Dido
Don't Cry Baby (Careless Love) Madeleine Peyroux
I Want a Dog (got it from iTunes, not sure of the album) Pet Shop Boys
Set Adrift on Memory Bliss (Millennium Hip-Hop) P.M. Dawn. oh god, the embarrassment...
What the World Needs Now (Groovy 60s) Jackie DeShannon
Bette Davis Eyes (80s compilation) Kim Carnes
Fortress Around Your Heart (Dream of the Blue Turtles) Sting
J'ai Deux Amours (Careless Love) Madeleine Peyroux
We're Going to Be Friends (got on iTunes) White Stripes
Hmm...I guess I like Careless Love the most as an album. Never saw any of those folks in concert. I did see the Indigo Girls though...
As for embarrassment, I've gotten off the hook lately. One of my very guilty pleasures is Starship's "We Built this City on Rock and Roll" and you better believe it's on the 'pod...just waiting to make its Random Friday debut! The horror, the horror...
I need to go back and really listen to "Love and China." I don't think I ever really gave that album a chance.
